Texas Fajita Burgers

World Harbors Fajita sauce makes these burgers memorable. The sauce is the secret flavoring in the burger, in the onion-pepper topping, and in the fajita mayonnaise that’s slathered on the bun.

1/4 cup mayonnaise
6 Tbsp. WORLD HARBORS Mexican Style Fajita Marinade & Sauce
1 large garlic clove, pushed through a garlic press
1 Tbsp. olive oil
1 large yellow onion, cut in half, thinly sliced
1 large red bell pepper, cored, sliced into thin 2-in. strips
Salt and pepper
1-1/3 lbs. ground beef
4 “deli” slices pepper jack or Monterey jack cheese
4 hamburger buns, sliced open

In a small bowl, mix together the mayonnaise, 2 Tbsp. Fajita Sauce, and half the garlic. Keep fajita mayonnaise chilled.

Heat oil in large skillet; cook and stir onion and red pepper with 1/4 tsp. salt and 1/4 tsp. pepper until soft, about 10 minutes. Stir in 2 Tbsp. Fajita Sauce. Cover to keep warm.

In a medium bowl, mix together beef, 2 Tbsp. Fajita Sauce, 1/2 tsp. salt and 1/4 tsp. pepper. On waxed paper, use damp hands to shape into patties (slightly larger than diameter of bun). Cook over medium-high heat on a covered grill until no longer pink in the middle, about 4 minutes per side. Move burgers away from heat; top burgers with cheese. To serve, generously spread fajita mayonnaise over bottom of bun; top with a burger and 1/4 of onion-peppers.

Makes 4 burgers.
