Deep Chocolate Sauce (made with chocolate chips)


2/3 cup half & half 
2 cups semisweet, bittersweet or dark chocolate chips (10-12 oz.)
1 Tbsp. ANGOSTURA® aromatic bitters
1 Tbsp. brandy


In a medium microwave-safe bowl, combine half & half and chocolate chips. Microwave on high 1-1/2 to 2 minutes until hot and chips have melted. Stir with a wire whisk until smooth. Whisk in Angostura bitters and brandy. Let cool 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add a bit more half & half to desired consistency.

Sauce may be stored in refrigerator, covered, for 2-3 weeks. Warm up in microwave to serve, and stir in a bit of half & half or milk to thin, if needed. 

Makes about 1 2/3 cups.

  • If using bittersweet chocolate chips with a cacao percentage on the label, taste sauce while it’s still warm and stir in a teaspoon or two of sugar if desired.
  • Sauce will seem sweeter when served with ice cream or other sweet desserts.
  • Recipe may be doubled.
